Of course, it's also desirable not to have the cache grow too large, and cache expiration is often desirable.
In order to configure the decorator in a more detailed manner, or share a cache across fnuctions, one can create a cache and pass it in as an argument to the cached function decorator:. By default, this cache will only expire items whenever you poke it - all methods on this class will result in a cleanup. If this class must be used in a multithreaded environment, the option concurrent should be set to True. Note that the cache will always be concurrent if a background cleanup thread is used.
Note that this module should probably not be used in python3 projects, since the standard library already has one. The only feature this one has which that one lacks is timed eviction. Python version None. This post discusses how to do this in Python. We are going to create a Python script that stores a secret key in a variable, and then we read the memory of this process to see whether the secret is present in memory. The contents of the file correspond with the address space of the memory, and not all addresses have memory mapped to them.
You can then seek to that position and read a blob of memory.
Reading memory of other processes is not allowed unless you attach a process using ptrace. This is what debuggers use. Instead of doing this, it may be easier to use a real debugger like gdb to dump the memory to a file. Another way is to create a core file. This can be done with the command gcore after installing gdbor by aborting the process and letting the operating system create a core file. There are several settings that influence whether a core file is created when a program exits abnormally:.
After configuring that we want core files, we can call os. We want to test having a secret variable in memory. Here is our test code:. After running this, a core file is generated and we use grep to check whether the secret was present in memory:. Now that we can check the process memory for our secret string, we can try several ways to try to clear that secret from memory.
When we run grep again, we see that the secret is still present in memory. Obviously the secret variable no longer points to the secret value, but the value itself was not deleted. Our secret is still present in memory. The garbage collector has freed the memory and will use it again in the future, but it has not cleared the contents. We can run some memory-intensive code to try and overwrite the just-freed memory, but there is no guarantee that the secret will be overwritten.

Therefore, I create a list of break points, and I calculate and store at the end of each step. However, each step costs longer time. I think the reason is the memory or cache, do you have any idea how to deal with in this situation or just how to clear cache or memory?

Cache is irrelevant, no software outside maybe the OS directly messes with that cache is hardware-driven, not software. How does the mentioned large table implemented? Just wondering how to clear saved memory in Python? Like in Matlab I can simply use "clear all" to clear all saved memory. Thank u! May 10 ' Post Reply. Share this Question. Diez B.
You don't - python does it for you. It is called garbage collection. All you have to to is get into granny-mode tm : forget about things. That means: once an object is not referenced by your code anymore, it will be cleaned up. Generally speaking: don't worry. HTH, Diez. Andrew Gwozdziewycz.
Glad to see you're trying Python instead of Matlab. The linecache module allows one to get any line from a Python source file, while attempting to optimize internally, using a cache, the common case where many lines are read from a single file. This is used by the traceback module to retrieve source lines for inclusion in the formatted traceback.
The tokenize. This function uses tokenize. The linecache module defines the following functions:. Get line lineno from file named filename. This function will never raise an exception — it will return '' on errors the terminating newline character will be included for lines that are found. Finally, if filename is a relative filename, it is looked up relative to the entries in the module search path, sys.
Clear the cache. Use this function if you no longer need lines from files previously read using getline. Check the cache for validity. Use this function if files in the cache may have changed on disk, and you require the updated version. If filename is omitted, it will check all the entries in the cache.
The linecache module defines the following functions: linecache. New in version 3. The Python Software Foundation is a non-profit corporation. Please donate. Last updated on Apr 12, Found a bug? My guess is that you didn't save correctly on glade, as glade is kinda weird for it's things, like you have to type the name, hit enter to change it, and then save.
